if you have an anemone start looking for eggs around it's foot. I have considered all possible "Clown Car" jokes, and references to the octuplet lady, and will find all of them funny.;D;D;D;D

They sound like they're mated to me. If another fish of any sort goes near my maroon's anemone, he'll attack. I could imagine another maroon trying to slide in there, definitely would cause a ruckus.

Well young man, it seems you do have a viable mated pair here. Maroons are the hardest of the clowns to pair up and it has to be done with caution.

If you are introducing a newcomer to the tank, the size difference needs to be substantial. Usually it is better to introduce a smaller specimen, let them work out their heirarchy and get on with life. If they are the same size, it is likely they will fight to the death. Neither one will back down.

So if your larger clown (the female) is actively protecting the male, they are living peacefully and sharing an anemone, you have yourself a mated pair. Congrats dude.

Now. You need to know that they have teeth...and will use them, especially the female. Mine is about two inches long now....I have had it for several months and I am just now starting to feel the bite. Whenever I go near the anemone, it attacks. If and when I get a male for it (a fish at least half it's size), it will get worse.

There is a possibility that your pair may mate and produce a clutch. If you are interested in trying for this, I would keep the lights on 11 to 12 hours a day nice and steady. Use moonlights at night. If you see no activity after a few months, then you increase the photoperiod by an hour and see if that works. There are other things you can try also.....

    Good luck dude......John.
