Are reef octopus and SWC skimmers made by the same company?

Got it. Ya, I saw your other thread. I have to admit I never look at recircs. When I saw your pics I thought it was an older model they don't do anymore... but you got me all straightened out.

Well like I said before, they are separate companies and were made at the same factory...it is obvious there is some incest going on in that family.

 

Incest, that's funny. But you're right, maybe they ran out of SWC logo collection cup lids and thought what the hell, we'll just slap an Octopus lid on there.;D

 

i am pretty sure a SWC skimmer is a reef octopus with the labels taken off and SWC stickers put on.

 

Just to clarify a few things. SWC is located in Canada most of the products are made in China,but not all. They came out the nw and dnw series. They sold them under the octopus name to Coral Vue, and also under the SWC name in Canada and to other retailers in the USA. When Coral Vue bypassed them and had the same factory make them for them under the Octopus name. SWC came out with the Xtreme skimmer line(160 and 200). 6 months later Coral Vue knocked that product off. SWC then came out with the first 1 piece cone. Coral Vue has tried to knock off that product and that is when SWC moved there over sea's manufacturing to another plant. They got tired of Coral Vue knocking off all of there products.Now alot of there products are made in house in Canada. They have a cnc machine in house and another one coming very soon.

 

They are made by the same company in China, Reef Octopus. SWC/Saltwater Connections is the distributor for Canada and tagged the skimmer with his name. CoralVue is the USA distriutor for USA.

I was a dealer for a good while and have spoken to the manufacturer in China, the USA distributor and the Canada distributor.

They are the same skimmers with a different name attached to them.
