Wow how long have you been playing? I have had an acoustic in my bedroom since I was like 14, didn't really start playing till I was about 19 or so, and I still need tabs to learn songs. I honestly don't understand how people can just hear that and play it, that's pretty impressive :)

I prefer electric over acoustic, but I've started learning some some just to play for people. It's great to pull out the acoustic at a party, always a big hit. I have a very eclectic taste for music. I like everything from dragon force to Chicago to SR-71. Acoustically, I've just learned "Red Light" by David Nail ,"Old Apartment" by the Bare Naked Ladies and "Wake Up" by Coheed and Cambria. Electric wise, I'm working on "Aces High" by Iron Maiden and "Welcome to the Black Parade" by MCR. "All along the Watch Tower" is fun to play too.

I just use tabs. I don't have the patience to learn songs by ear. You are either born with natural perfect pitch, very few people are, or you can train yourself. The more you practice it, the better you get at it. I can pick out a few chords by using my guitar, but can't hear what a chord or note is. For what I do, and my goals, it's not important to me, but it would be cool to have.

Try Time Consumer(acoustic version) by Coheed and Cambria, really fun song to play. Not really a big fan of theirs, but that song in particular is just really well done.

I miss my (semi) acoustic. A couple years back I was hitting it pretty hard - you can see some of my stuff on youtube/3reef ... alas I've been full-time code boy lately but I need to get back on the horse soon.

I agree that the action on electrics are easier on the fingers, but it is nice to have an acoustic around. If you can rock out on an acoustic your a better player for it and can play any guitar then...

If there is a particular band that you want tabs for, guitar shops have a lot of tab books - in case you missed them.

There are different rated tabs, the highest rated one sounded right on, play it with a shuffle feel.
