I used to have a large finch aviary. Stocked with Zebra's, Java's, Bengalese and Gouldian's. Also had some canaries, diamond doves and lots of quails too. :D Managed to breed all of them. Except the Gouldians. Shame that, as they where the ones i was hoping to breed the most. Not just because they are beautiful lil finches, but also because at the time where i lived they cost a LOT of money to buy. :p

cordon bleu finches are so funn to watch but if your thinking of breeding them... well.. thats very hard to do... We have a male and he's a laff riot with his song and dance.

Now Gouldians I dont know how.. but as of right no we have a clutch of 5 due to fledge there nest in a week or so and another clutch of 4 that just hatched in the past week.. and all these gouldians are parent raised..

We have found out that newly colord babies that breed will not make good parents untill they are about 2years old.. So within that time frame tossing babies and leaving there nest boxes are Very Common...

If y ou check the site it will give more in detail on how we do our set up.. I know it may not be the right thing but it working like a charm for us...

    Like always best of Luck,

    Happy Holidays....
