These shiny things showed up in my tank today. They are purplish-blue and iridescent. I have about 3 locations in the tank where they are, with two of them being single bubbles and the largest one having 3 to 4 connected bubbles. I bought two new corals from my LFS the other day and I know I saw a worm of some sort on one of them. That's the newest thing happening in the tank. I did have two crabs either fighting or "you know" :) for hours the other day. The pictures are not that great, but if you look more to the right or center you can see them.

bubble algae. You can carefully pop them off of the rock with a toothpick. They spread fast given the right conditions. Do not pop them and remove them in a bucket so no spores make it back to your tank.

when i had them i removed them while i was siphoning out for a water change, that way if you accidentally pop one you suck the spores out (in theory). i never had it take off in my tank, only about a handful of bubbles at a time and now they've disappeared. i wish i could say the same for GHA.... also, emerald crabs are supposed to eat this stuff too

I don't know what you mean here, but I get the drift about popping them off with a toothpick. I appreciate that advice. I will try the siphoning thing as well. Thanks for the help.

a tweezers works well if you can't get at them with your fingers. you can try to pry underneath them or pull them off (again try not to get too rough and squish them). if you pop a few, it isn't the end of the world, if you keep your nutrients down they won't take over.

In other words make sure they DO NOT pop in your tank, pull the rock out and pop them in a bucket.

An emerald crab will eat them.
