Love mine, I changed out the bulbs for better bulbs. I havent had any issues other than the extension legs are metal so they rusted but that was an easy fix. For the money they are pretty good. Id buy from aquatraders.com anytime. I havent had any issues with them at all.

I used one of those lights except the 4' version and it worked good. But aquatraders customer service is some of the worst I have ever seen or dealt with. If you could find the light somewhere else and avoid aquatraders it may be worth your time. I still have the 4' light, dont use it anymore now that I have a larger tank but someday I may set up another 55g tank and thats the light I will be using.

I too was looking at these due to their price point but there is too much negative info out there to take the chance....My peace of mind is worth more.

"Too much negative info out there?"

Where exactly is all this negative info?

There have been complaints about the Metal Halide systems but we are discussing T5. Myself as well as many other reefers have used the Odyssea T5 fixtures for a long time and I haven't heard a single legitimate complaint.

Humor me and clarify your opinion. If you can't, then your missing out on what could be a good product for you. Cheers!

P.S. I'm going out on a limb and assuming that even the MH systems are no longer garbage because people wouldn't buy them and the company would stop making them, neither of which is the case.

Peace of mind? I have 2 of them & I have peace of mind. I also have a piece of my waller after buying them.

Remember there are differences between the odyssea lights of a couple years ago and now. Alot of these horror stories are quite dated and they have since changed the configurations.

I saw someone mentioned aquatrader. You cant blame a light for the quality of customer service a seller has. Google reviews & check the BBB, aquatrader is a very risky place to buy from.

good for the price. obviously there are better fixtures and options (led) out there.
im sure if the ballast were going up in flames there would be a few more stories about it. dont believe everything you hear or read. The fixture starting on fire seems more like a myth at this point.

I plan on buying them just to get my 20H up and going, I will eventually switch it over to LEDS, but I won't need them right away. So, for my situation, they're gonna be perfect.

As far as the "going up in flames" bit, their older generation MH used to burn up ballasts often. not so much anymore.

Mine works great, I use ATI bulbs in it. I've had it for like a year and a few months.
