    I just though of it...

Does the noise of the pumps and other stuff rattling in the tank drive them crazy?

I made mine @earmuffs@ to cut down on the noise!!!! Just kidding.. I don't know, I hope not. I guess they would grow used to the noises and not really pay attention to them after a while.. Hopefully!!

One thing that I'll never forget when I started SCUBA diving, is how surprisingly LOUD a place the ocean is. You'd think that 60 feet down in a calm sea is a quiet place. Not on your life! The ocean is probably far noisier than our tanks are.

    Good one! ;D
If a pump would make them go def then the 110 db of Godsmack playing in the basement would really hurt them.:drummer::guitarist:singer:

As ReefSparky (et al) has pointed out, the ocean is a pretty noisy place anyway, but what about the magnet field that surround the pumps and other electrical devices, surely they must have an effect.

I am sure that fish have a sense of direction and 'place' that is driven by their ability to 'sense' the Earths magnetic field. Their was a discussion about this and the 'mental' effect the magnetic fields can have of marine organisms and if I can find it and pics of the 'solution' I will post it.

    Cheers

    John :)
