Call marineland they will send a replacement. And pay for damage if you prove it was the heater and also I would not use the heater ever

So sorry for your lost! I have 2 150watts mainland heaters in my system as well. Should I replace them? If so, what does everyone recommend?

The main problem is them over heating the tank. Buy a controller. All heater brands will have issues with heaters getting stuck on no matter what you buy. The best thing to do to prevent a tank from overheating is using a controller along with the heater.

yes you should get them out of there if they are the mainland stealths. do a search on exploding stealth heaters on google.

after a bad heater problem, not a stealth, another brand, the company replaced it but i dont use it.... i looked into heaters and now have the jagar heater its glass but have read nothing but good about them. to be safe its backed up with a controller that cuts power to the heater if water temp gets over 80 degrees. (jagar heater it's self is set at 78 )

so many heater horror storys :(

Yup, unfortunately all heaters have issues once in a while. The second generation stealths were awful though.
