are Zoas and button polyps truely sessile?

    So... I know Zoas are listed as sessile inverts... but I swear it looks like a few of mine have walked..or more like slimmed... about 1/2" in the last few weeks.

    Can they move?

    All I know is they are poisonous.. No clue if they move, is it possible that the ones you thought moved are just new ones?

    Not sure.but my yellow polyps do the same thing.

    I'm pretty sure they attach to rock and don't move, at least none of mine have moved that I'm aware of. They do have the ability to bend and stretch but they are still anchored to the rock base. They can also bend and attach to a new rock in the middle of their "stem" to colonize a new rock but they are still ultimately attached in their original location.

    They can spread like crazy when they're in good conditions and are happy, are you sure you're just not seeing them multiply or stretch out more over the rock?

    I know mushrooms can move. Haven't seen any zoas move.
