ARGH wrong media!

    i screwed up and purchased the wrong media resin bag to remove ammonia nitrite and nitrate in the cannister filter, set it up and its been running for two days. JUST NOW noticed that its for fresh water only! damnit is it gona cause any harm or will it just not work properly?

    Can you give more details like brand name, etc.

    I can't imagine it causing problems....I could see it not doing anything though. (For instance, some freshwater media contains zeolites....those won't work in saltwater)

    The MSDS sheet didn't help me at all. It says it contains from 30 to 60% zeolites (which I previously told you wouldn't work in saltwater). It also contains 30 to 60% resins but they list the resins as proprietary and won't tell you what's in them. http://cms.marsfishcare.com/files/msds/nitra_zorb_122409_ghs.pdf

    I can't think of anything that could cause any harm to your aquarium unless you recharged the resins and used an improper type of chlorine remover that is Amine-based (which would form Chloramines and are very toxic).
