Take the baking soda and spread 2.25c on a baking sheet, preferrably non-stick. Bake at 300 degrees(or more) for at least an hour(or more) to drive of the CO2 found in the baking soda.

 

ahhhhhh thank you for clarifying that! does this do anything for the pH in a tank?

Technically it should keep the pH either stable or raise it, as far as I know. If it weren't baked, it would lower the pH.

 

I have been using the 4/1 ratio mixture and has been working good. I dont bake anything, just mix it 4/1, wait a couple of hrs, then pour it in the dripper.

For the experts, does baking the baking soda make any difference?
