I guess this is kind of the wrong forum to discuss this on but, does anyone have artificial coral in their tank? Im setting up a tank for a French Angel and some other Caribbean fish that are not reef safe but Id like it to look like the reefs they live on. Id like to include some fake corals but nothing that is obviously man made. i.e. none of the terrible run of the mill petco and petsmart decor that makes your tank look like clown vomit, but well done reproductions of real coral. Any suggestions? I found a company called Living Color that looks promising but I'm having difficulties finding other companies that produce artificial corals.

I would go with Living Color Enterprises. IMO you aren't going to find a better artificial coral when it comes to realism.
I've had a working relationship with John O'Rourke, the companies leading dietitian @ Living Color. The company will treat you right.
You might pay a high price but where else are you going to get museum quality reproductions?

Great ideas guys. The natural stuff is really cool and will color in over time. Defiantly a path worth researching.

The prices are a bit high at LCE but from what I've seen its worth it. When you're stuff is good you're allowed to ask a lot for it. They only have a few color options online for their corals but I'd imagine that they allow you to make special orders and specify colors and sizes.

Why not chance a few real corals? Not all fish will eat your corals. An with live rock, I think you will be just fine without them, you can grow sponges and macro algaes that they will not eat.

I may eventually try it in the tank but with a big angel, hogfish, and large wrasses, I fear it would most likely be a waste of money.
