Sorry.. its Dilute.. and the definition is "To lessen the amount of a substance in water by adding more water."

IE: how you decrease salinity.. dude.. second thought.. get a net and skim out the salt :beer2:

hey question. i have a pulsing xenia. real small. but at the pet store it was standing tall and pulsing. now i brought it home and now it is in a ball and just pulsing a little. could this be because i use carbon in my filtration system? i heard that is what kills them because carbon cleans the water and they like it a little dirty. is that it? my water is perfect except the ph and everything.

also, my tank is in my room. i have the light on for way too long. from 6:45 am to about 10:30 pm every day. well on the weekdays. can i turn the light on only when im in there and turn it off when im not? like if im out to dinner just to cut back on the hours? trust me, by doing this, dont worry about the factor that it wont get enough light. but will that confuse everything too much? can i?

Why? Get a timer. They are 10 bucks. You can turn them on and off if you want to.

Your signature indicates that the lighting is old. That is why your Xenia is not doing well. The Zoas will follow. You need to replace the lights if they are over eight to nine months old. In terms of your salinity problem.....there is no problem. Your SG is about 1.026. IMO, it's perfect. I know aquarists on this site that run 1.028 (Salinity = 37.7). If you want to bring it down, do so slowly. No more than 2 units of salinity or .002 of SG per 24 hours. You do not have an emergency situation here. Your tank is fine.

With respect to lighting. IMO, the tank needs to be on a schedule plain and simple. Twelve hours on twelve hours off is good. As was mentioned before, get a timer and plug in your lighting. Set it and forget it.
