If you parameters are fine, don't mess with it! if you are using a hydrometer that might be the reason for the high readings on the salinity, and about your xenia try adding some phytoplex or microvert if you think the carbon is removing trace elements from the water column

Alright buddy this isn't the first time I've come across a thread of yours, and I am by no means telling you not to ask questions, but if you have done as much research as you have said in previous posts you would not be asking these questions, but more importantly you would not be making these remarks towards people helping you, because you would already know freshwater evaporates from saltwater at a much higher rate then salt leaving your tank from most likely salt creep. Speaking of research where are you going to look for information? I'm sure many people here can recommend great resources both online and off, and like I said before you can never learn to much especially in this hobby.

Not to be inflammatory, but I have had the same concerns. You are running the risk of alienating yourself from the rest of us. If that remark had been directed towards me, I just would not have posted anymore for you. And while I consider myself childish for reacting that way, it is still the way I would have reacted.

Now, this is by no means a slight against you, but I want you to pick up a book that I read that helped me out a lot. It's called "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Robert Fenner. This guy is a reef god. Just read it cover to cover and you will learn a lot of the basics that can help you get started down the road of reef knowledge aquisition. It does not have everything......not by a long shot. But it does give a good, solid, albeit abridged version of the hobby as seen by a professional.

    Good luck......John.

i dont think he was directing or saying that in a negative manner, (i could be wrong) thats just the way he speaks, i used to use dude alot as well ::)

and in email/forums it can come accross the wrong way like many other things.

but i would suggest to do a little research man before you post, its a pretty common easy thing that you should be able to easily find out info about.

but i understand i am lazy sometimes too ;)
    good luck!

I took it a bit offensively at first... "Dude.." is not a friendly way to start off a reply to someone trying to help you out.. but after reading my answer to his problem.. I realized I put a question mark after fresh water... just because of the simplicity of the question.. but i guess he thought i was telling him how to lower the salinity in his what i assumed to be fresh water tank.. heh.. FRESH WATER?!.. i'll be a bit more blunt in the future

Just a simple example of dilution:

if you have 1 oz of straight vodka and you think it is too strong you add something too so its not so strong it i.e. orange juce.

So now you have diluted the vodka! :D
