Has anyone seen this? It looks like a simple external high capacity down draft skimmer with a beckett injector although it may be a venturi buried in there. Is this too good to be true? A skimmer rated to 450 gal with a pump for $150 delivered? For thss kind of $ why would I consider buying used or building my own. Are the inflated prices of other manufactures just finally being crushed by cheap but functional Chinese clones like with Jebo?

Blade I know your trying to save some cash but if you load up a 300gal with fish and run a underpowered cheap skimmer you are asking for trouble. I say this as someone who basically own a Macro skimmer(Coralife same different). The Coralife is at least a needlewheel skimmer. The only skimmer I have seen set up with a CAP pump are simple venturi skimmers. The ASF 450 to the best of my knowledge is nether a beckett or a downdraft skimmer. It is just my opinion but I would not trust a 300g tank to that skimmer.

    Skipping on this one.

I spoke again with my local guy. The used Nova he is recommending is a large custom built becket. Is is supposed to be similar in nature to the RC you are getting (BTW, the RC looks the bomb. :thumbs_up ). We are drilling holes in the floor, plumbing, wiring and filling the tank on Friday. Almost there! He is bringing the Nova for my approval. If I like it we will install it too. It's going to be a long day.

On the other hand. I'm not happy with the Skimmer on my 210. I'm thinking about using a Jebo 520 as a base, adding a needle wheel pump and an adjustable waste gate. For about $100 all up, it's something to mess around with. If I don't like it for the 210 I can shift it to either my 55 or 72. It's bound to be better than a SeaClone 150. There is an interesting thread about it on Reef Central.

Good luck with your new toy!

Wish me luck for Friday. I figure there are about 50 things that can go wrong. ;P
