Tomorrow and the next the tank is getting a big scrub scrub with the old toothbrush to get most the GHA off the rocks, and I'll be redecorating the scape after it being in one place for nearly a year.. I have a good idea for better flow around rocks and a better design.. you can clearly see the Flametail Blenny in this picture... he has really came around. Feeds from my hand, roams all around the tank, lives in a few holes in the rock, and picks at algae and slime

I've had amazing growth with my chalice, polyps, candy cane, and euphyllia's. Tank is doing very well besides the algae issue

on the first chamber in the back where the water intakes, then spills over to chamber 2 to fill-- well right there is a plastic divider that is about halfway letting the water through -- simply snap that plastic piece off and this should allow for more flow into chamber 2 giving you better aeration and hopefully it'll kick up that brown debris that has settled

Long time since I have been on here. 3reef is still leading the trend in online reef colaborations!

Well overall the tank has been reduced to zero maintenance. This is great for me since I am trying to graduate college, but in doing so some stuff has suffered. I've lost my stunner chalice, some polyps.. my cleaner shrimp mysteriously disappear along with my goby, and I found my pistol shrimp dead from carpet surfing one morning.

My birthday is soon and I hope to upgrade to a 40g breeder w/ a 20g sump. I already have the right equiptment to run this size aquarium, minus a skimmer. But considering I once used the Hydror Slimskim, and it was such a P.O.S I returned it and have been skimmerless ever since.

Here are a few pictures of my SW and lowlight plant FW aquariums. The sw is about 3 years old now, and the FW is about a year old

Hammer Corals splitting like crazy. Started with a 2head frag

Frogspawn isn't doing so hot since I rearranged my rocks.. It's slowly seperating from the skeleton and it hasnt fully "inflated" for about 2 months now. Just stays that same size, day and night.. when it once was the size of a softball or larger

Will be moving the biocube into a 40g and using the biocube as a sump + display fuge. Really looking forward to this, but since I am meticulous it may take a few months before I start mixing sw!

    Small Update:

Pictures soon but not much to show except my Euphyllia sp. has grown a lot.

    3years old on 5/18/2014.

The DIY Overflow has held strong for almost 3 years now. I have had a few backups due to clog. A few mods to the design would have fixed this.
Had a minor crash, lost life included a cleaner shrimp, 2 six-line, shrimp goby and pistol shrimp, birdsnest sps, stunner chalice, zoas, gsp, and a few others.. I am also currently battling hair algae, which is a pita. However it is encouraging that I am seeing a decline after a heavy investment in elbow grease and minimal feeding.

Also believe my fancy test kit has expired, making it difficult to check my parameters.

I somehow introduced pyramid snails into my system, but I have been manually removing them and have not seen any on my astreas in some time.

Will be dismantling the Biocube this summer and moving into a 40breeder. Plan on using the biocube as a display refugium for the 40g.

I will be establishing a QT tank this time. NO pyramid snails, or flatworms this time! I guess I'm pretty fortunate those are my only negative hitchhikers. Could be worse!

Sorry to hear about your crash. I know how much they suck. I had a pretty bad one about a year ago when I moved I to my apt. Can't wait to see some new pics !
