Yeah it is set to high. The bubbles should be just at or a little above the base of the collection cup. If you can lower the level. How many inches of water are in the sump were the skimmer is?

 

my g2 worked the best in 9" of water height and set in the middle of the cup . i know there not the best out there but it always worked great i liked the set it and forget it i never touched it once i got it set verry consistant same amount of skim every week and nothing seemed to effect it exept for a sand storm if a powerhead fell

if my bubble magus dont work out the g3 will be under my 150 no questions asked the medicine bottle trick works well but it will quiet down once its broke in to a 1/4 of what it is now

oh and another thing i did forget to mention i added an 1/2 inch air line and exited out of the house to help minimize ph swings i had going on durring the winter witch will kill the noise

 

THanks Vinny! I definitely had it to high then. I had the skimmer like 3-4" to high. From reading online since the skimmer didnt come with instructions, I found out that the skimmer works best in 8" of water so that is the height of water in my sump where my skimmer is located.

I received the skimmer when I purchased the tank and the guy who I purchased it from was no help with it. I honestly had no clue what as to the type/what a skimmer was how to properly install it etc. Luckily for me I have a half a brain research and read up on it. Glad to hear that it will quiet down but until then I will do the medicine bottle trick.

I have two of these skimmers and love them. As far as not being the best out there. If it works then it is the best for me. There is a thing called overskimming which IMO is worse then no skimmer. 8)
