I can get the skimmer to stop producing micro bubbles, any suggestions? I tried putting a bleeder valve on the venturi to fine tune, no luck there. I did a mod on the overflow to eliminate the splash from the water running over the sponge and that doesn't seem to work either!

I use a 30 gallon long my g3 is about center turned to the pump just about touches the front of the sump at a 45 degree angle, my return is on the left side of the sump I keep the water near the bottom of the elbow and the foam muffler all the way down I don't get micro bubbles i think because the water breaks over the top of the dump tube free falls about 2" then travels through the foam pad.
    I hope this helps

I've been searching, but are the bubbles common during the break in period?

Yes, with most skimmers.. until they gum up a bit.

Bummer. I haven't seen these in person, but can you put some floss or a micron bag under the outputs? :-/

The micron bag was what I was leaning towards.
