Where is the optimal height on the out tube? My skimmer has decided to stop producing anything, and I suspect its because of the water level variance in the sump (no auto top off) Anyway, about where do you have yours at?

I adjust mine every now and then, is the skimmer not producing any foam? or just not enough?

didn't seem to be enough. It gets all crazy when I add water to the sump, or change the sock out. Not sure if its just getting too much air at that point or what. Got it dialed back in now though, just adjusting it slowly. When I change the sock out it foams like crazy so the cup fills with water in about 20 seconds! Must be sucking in more air from the overflow.

You are disturbing the surface tension of the water everytime you touch anything from feeding to playing with the sock I'd throw that in the trash, These skimmers will go flat they do not ever just set and foam if there is noting to be skimmed . Cut off the air and set the water line to about an 1" up into the column and adjust the air back on . But you do not want large bubbles they should be fine and small and allow them a day or two to build up

an ATO will greatly help in that skimmers performance, they really need a constant water level to produce. or you could mod it to be a recirculating skimmer (via google search) and never worry about adjusting it again.

pretty hard to put an ATO where the tank is now, no feasible way to run and RO water line to the tank. Lack of planning on this one and I fully admit it!

When you say 1 inch up in the column, do you mean in the part where it begins to taper, or into the the column inside the cup itself?
