I have tried going online to research how to set-up an ASM Skimmer (or any brand) in a Refugium ADHI sump. The website I looked at recommended the ASM Skimmer G1X for the ADHI sump model 30 and to place it in the 1st chamber.

So I have that down and while researching, I came across a lot of helpful articles but I can never find the answer, how do you set it up inside the sump.

All I know is that you can play with the water level and I guess the pipe on the ASM skimmer to control how much is being skimmed. My question is; do you just place the skimmer inside 1st chamber and turn it on or do you actually connect the skimmer to the Drain pipe from the built-in overflow. I guess I'm having a hard time visualizing water going into the sump via a pipe into the first chamber, having the skimmer sit in the chamber and then the water going into the second chamber with the refugium lighting. does all the water go through the protein simmer first and then it flows through the rest of the sump or does the skimmer just pick up some water through the pump.

Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated. I'm used to freshwater and I'm starting my first saltwater tank which will be 75 gallons.

just set it in the first chamber adjust water level with the skimmers drain pipe the taller higher the water within the skimmer . i would set it up with the top of the foam just inside the the neck of the cup for a week then adjust it to about 1/2 way up the pipe keep the skimmer 6-9 inches in the water and if you can keep it at a constant water level seems to be the real key to any skimmer

i love my g2 works like a champ there simple to use i have had 3 other brands and i like this one the most at least its the most consistant and weard things dont make it overflow and it skims the exact same amout everyweek
