I had read where the Asphur Angel can be reef friendly and he was doing fine until recently. I've gone as far as to tap on the glass to shoo him away but he keeps coming back. What can I do? He pecks at the mushrooms and my favorite leather. They don't expand like they used to. I am experiencing new tank syndrome with brown algae and wondering if these conditions has caused him to act this way. I wouldn't have a clue on how to catch him. I'd take it hard but it's probably the best alternative. Anybody have similar experiences and what did you do.

Its either the fish or the coral. Its your choice, I say keep the corals and send the fish. It is an angel, so dont be to surprised. I have got to catch my flameback dwarf and get him out and into another tank. Better make the first shot the last one. LOL

Any angel has the potential to turn into a nipper at any point. As said you are going to have to choose between the corals or the angel.

Compared to other angels, you'll occassionally get one that doesn't pick on corals. Because I ran a LFS, I've dealt with maybe 50 Asfur's whereas the average hobbyist deals with one. Out of all of those, I would say that maybe 4 or 5 left the corals alone.

Boy, those are bad odds.... I'm going to keep an eye on him. I moved the mushrooms and I'll just see what happens.

Cute answer. LOL! I'm really debating on how to catch him if I decide to give him back.

I bought one of those round aquamedic fish traps it seems like it would do a good job. I didn't have to use it...so far.

You put the coral it eats the most in a fish trap.
