Asterina star split...why?

    Just wondering why an asterina star might split. These are fresh hitchhikers from a shroom frag I bought last weekend. Thanks for any info on the matter. [​IMG]

    Both halves are in the center of the pic. I apologize for the blurry pics. All I have is IPhone 3GS.

    thats how they reproduce.one can become many,most are harmless,some are known coral eaters,i have never had any issues myself with them

    I am overrun with Asterina stars! Mine eat coraline. I pick at least 5 out daily and there are more every day. I'm currently looking to pick up a Harlequin shrimp to help rid myself of these stupid things. Moral of the story; if you only have a few right now get them out! If they happen to be purple eaters and you get more than a few you are screwed IMO!
