astrina star?

    i bought live rock from a tank that started having astrina stars i think (small white on the glass) how hard are they to deal with because i dont want to dip or nuke the rock

    generally asterinas dont cause any real problems. very rarely do you get a population explosion of them. i wouldnt worry about it.

    If you see a few, is because you have not see all of them. They tend to come out at night. These do populate! They multiply by dropping a leg and that leg turns into another asteria star. I've heard they can harm your zoa!

    You need to get a harlequin shrimp, he will get rid of them in no time! That is food for a harlequin shrimp!

    i wanted a shrimp anyway when he decemates the star population what would he eat? and may i add aquascaping is HARD lol

    I have hundreds of them in my seahorse tank which has tons of Zoas in it and never seen them bother anything at all in that tank.

    And getting a Harlequin to eat them is like rolling the dice, some will some will not. And once they eat them you have to feed it using chocolate Chip stars which are not reef compatible. Harlequins are usually kept in a species tank not in a reef tank.
