OK, let me preface this by saying I think I know the issue, BUT, as I work all day tomorrow, go pick up my kid (YEAHHHHH) on wednesday, and leave for vaca on Friday, I'm kinda outta time to problem solve this. But it seems if the typhoon controller goes through power outages, as happened here quite dramatically lately, it loses some programming that inevitably leads to a string not powering fully.

So here's whats going on, 2 heatsinks, with about 12 whites, 14 blues, and 6 violets on each sink.

Well the whites on 1 sink look to only power on about 10% no matter what i do.
I change the drivers form 1 side to the other, and randomly, it will only power 1 side fully, with no rhyme or reason as to why.

So i completely rewired all the whites, and yet, the same exact problem.

MAJOR PROBLEM; I think, the whites, once powered down, flash at prob 100% power briefly. Now, I know this is a sign of something, but I cant remember what, and can't find it.

    So here are my questions;lol
    1. Can you problem solve this for me, as I'm running out of time available to do it? If not, do you think half the tank running at all leds on, and half the tank running at blues/violets 100% with about 15% whites will sustain, clams, and mostly LPS??

2, should I put my cheap 4 bulb $150 ebay T5 special on the tank while I'm gone? or

3 my 2x175w MH fisture with 4x36 watt PC on it, even though it runs hot

I'm really not pumped at the idea of switching light fixtures up while going on vaca and a rookie taking care of the tank, so I'd prefer to keep the leds running. I really think if I up the power and duration of the side without the whites at 100%, it may be ok.

    TIA

Other option is to move both lights towards the center of the tank and "aim" them so I hit most the tank and up the power for the time being. Kinda thinking I'm gonna do that.

Also, been entertaining the thoughts of buying one of the new RGB 120W chinese fixtures for comparison, would be nice if I could get 1 here by Friday, but kinda doubting that is an option????

    Hey Cosmo!

I am about to head to bed, but if you want I'll be more than willing to lend you my Rapid PWM controller with a digital timer. I can ship it out first thing in the morning after my conference call. Oh! And I can ship that Green Birds Nest to you, she is ready to go.

When the lights turn off they discharge, this is completely normal when power is lost to the driver.

My only other thought would tie all drivers into one channel on your typhoon controller and skip the SunRise/Set.

Let me know what you want to do, hope this could help. :)

Lastly, I would fix the LEDs before switching to your MH or T5 setup, your corals might lose color because of the light acclimation.

Thanks Chris, but I think worst case scenario, I'll rearrange where the heat sinks are and amp the whites up! They're only at 50% now, so I should be fine for a week! Much appreciated though!

Playing phone tag with John from boost, I just have zero time to work on them before vaca;(

You leave tomorrow for a week? I would say rearranging is the best option for now. Maybe order a new typhoon so it is ready for when you get back?

Leave tomorrow to get my boy back;)! Then leave Friday! Zero time for problem solving between now and then! Barely enough time to sleep! Gonna see if John will swap this one out for me! We I'd go through that whole power fiasco so thinking maybe the programming got messed up!

Well this is what I came up with! Not ideal, but hitting the clams, so it's what I gotta do! Not bad light though for 12 whites running;)

Doesn't come through right but the light isn't bad for what is where! Should be fine for a week or so!
