I have 94 lbs in a 75g tank. I want to get to between 135 and 150 pounds. Now, live rock is about $7.00/lb as you all know. Would it be in my best interest to buy base rock (which I am assuming is nothing more than Fiji'esk rock that is dead) and let it get seeded? Or do I just stick with getting the Fiji?

    TIA.......John.

go with base rock and save money , if your par is right it will be live in no time, and you will control what gets in your tank

if you can find the right size/shape pieces that your looking for in base rock, then go for it. but i have a hard time finding anything other than large round boulders in base rock. I'd just get the pieces of LR that i want but add them slowly so it's not so hard on the pocket. what's the rush?

base rock around me is still live, it's just not aesthetically appealing.
it's kept in same tank w/ LR like Fiji, Tonga, ect.
