Currently I have 4x54W T5 HO Fixture from Nova Extreme and the bulbs are hitting 10 months old. I have decided that it's time to replace them and I am currently looking at ATI 80W Blue Plus Bulbs to create the blue effect, i was thinking of going with 3 blue plus bulbs and 1 figi purple, or perhaps 2 blue plus and 2 fiji purples.. anyone have any experience with these? would the spectrum be okay without daylight? meaning will the corals do okay?

well i have never done a par test or used a spectrometer for those bulbs but i would assume the answer is no...

they will emit only very limited yellow and orange and red (which are essential to certain zooxanthellae)

I would use at least one white bulb. I ran 2 blue plus, 1 UVL true actinic and a fiji for a while. Lost some color. I took out the UVL actinic put in UVL 12k and color is coming back.

The Blue Plus is an awesome bulb but I wouldn't use 3 of them.

    I'd go with

    ATI Blue Plus
    Korallen-zucht Fiji Purple
    Giesemann Midday
    Giesemann Aquablue+

I think that will be too blue. I think you need a 6000K in there somewhere. The Giesemann Aquablue+ combines 6000K and 22000K so that may be a compromise. But I still think you may need just a pure 6500K bulb like the GE 6500K or Giesemann midday. Just my opinion since I never ran my tank without the midday in there.

The ATI Blue + is the highest blue bulb for PAR. But yeah, I would not run only all B+ if that is your only light source.

I will be running 4x80w of ATI B+ along with my 2x250 10000k halides. Now I only have 2x54 of B+, and it is not quite blue enough for me.

22000k daylight? who makes that bulb?

if it is a true 2200k, it bill be very blue. I used to run the old ATI Blue 20000k bulbs on my 35g.

The fiji purple is a lot less purple/ blue than it sounds like it is.

Aqua science used to make a 22000K bulb, not sure if they still do though.
