it seems a little weird that when looking at t5 lightbulbs all seem to run around the similar wavelengths so why are giesman i hope im spelling it right, have $40 light bulbs when i can get a t5 for half the price it just seems weird ive heard conflicting reviews about the giesmans and them really being a straight scam and same with ati i think your paying for the "brand" name correct me if im wrong i just look at it that way if anyone can give any true difference between lets say a marine glo and giesman or ati that would be great

hmm. i LOVE my ATI bulbs. they are an amazing product. if you are paying 40 per bulb you may re-evaluate where you shop/browse. i would try ReefGeek > Aquarium Supplies for Marine, Reef, and Saltwater Aquariums they do great business. You get what you pay for with your bulbs. I would but ATI everytime because i am so satisfied with their product. the difference is amazing. My coral growth has increased rapidly since i switched from a generic brand to ATI. However, i dont know anyting about the "marineglo" products. I hope this has been helpful.

Marine glo bulbs sell for 15.00 to 20.00 dollars and ATI and Geismann for 18.00 to 25.00.

    T5 bulbs at BRS

I read that ATI as going out of biz due to people finding out what they make their stuff out of. I don't know if that's really true, but I do know you can find a lot of the ati bulbs for really cheep (14$) due to clearance sales.

I get ATIs for ~$20-23 at my LFS. If you're paying $30+ for ATI, you're getting ripped off big time -but not by ATI. By the place selling them to you.

At ReefGeek, the highest priced ATI (an 80w bulb) is $24. Geisemann is more expensive, at $33 for their highest priced bulbs, but you still shouldn't be hitting $40 for them.

Well ATI and Giessman are top of the line manufacturers. They are the cream of the crop. No matter what product, there is always the cream of the crop. It is your job as a consumer to figure out if it is worth it to you or not for the premium.

Retailers choses to sell for what they sell for. Your job to figure out if what they offer is worth the premium, or if you can find a better price else where.

    But a "scam"... I don't think so.
