What are most people using for ATO on their nanos?

I'm assuming you're looking for the 16 gallon IM.

Medium Naked Juice bottles are the perfect size to make a free cat water style ATO. Just poke a hole in the middle of the lid and one on the side of the neck, fill it with water and flip it over into one of the filter chambers. As the water level in the filter drops below the neck, air is allowed in and water is allowed out the hole in the cap. I'll post a picture in a few.

Osmosis works against you there; the bottle of RODI will lower salinity of the system. It can't function as a true top-off.

I am thinking the ATO is a bad idea on this tank. I have the IM skimmer and it keeps randomly overflowing

What evolved said... Your basically just adding more volume to the tank (and lowering your salinity)

Anyone have experience with a Reef Keeper lite?

I am worried the skimmer kicking on will lower the level enough to set off the ATO. Ideally I would use a controller to power on the skimmer and power down the ATO during that time.

Do you turn off the skimmer at night? How large of volume is displaced when the skimmer is on? I have a skimmer on my 40 breeder that I shut off at night, which adds more water to the fuge which causes the top off to not run for a few hours then in the morning when the skimmer kicks on the top off runs for slightly more than average but the swing either way has no real effect on anything

I use a reef keeper to do this, and the return section is built into my display FYI so my return section is most likely the size of yours
