I bought 2 float switches off of ebay. 1 that is open and 1 that is closed. I made a bracket for 1 of them then wired it in and tested it with a lamp before connecting it to my pump. The problem is that after sort of working once or twice, now both switches stay on. No amount of moving the float up or down turns off the light on either switch. I've tried both of them. I've switched the 2 floats between the units. Nothing. They stay on. Any help?

a little more info on the switches would help. but just a guess would be you maybe fused the reed in side of them with to much of an amp draw with the lamp. or maybe the float is on them upside down.

    Here is a link:
New Liquid Water Level Sensor Horizontal Float Switch - eBay (item 370266108912 end time Sep-29-09 12:45:09 PDT)

I have wired up the switch that completes the circuit when down (allows power), and opens the circuit when up (cuts power when level is high). When I hold the float up and plug in the light starts OFF. When I drop slowly, the light turns ON (what it should do). When I raise slowly (simulating the water filling up in the sump) the light stays ON. Even when I push the float against the top the light stays ON. Occasionally it will turn OFF, but only 1 time in 20. It should go on and off fairly easily. I can't wire it into my system like this as it will put all the water in my RO/Di reservoir into the sump lowering my salinity significantly and running the pump dry.
