I fragged a couple mushrooms about two weeks ago and want to attach them to a decent sized rock...I tried super glue but they come loose once in the water...I was going to use rubber bands but wanted to know if leaving rubber bands in the tank for about a week will have any ill effect??

    thanks

I've seen no ill effects from having a rubber band in my tank. I don't know if I would put the rubber band right over the mushroom itself. Maybe wrap the mushroom and the rock you want it to attach to in some mesh and use the rubber band to hold the mesh in place...

I've always lined the bottom of a small container with some rubble, set the mushroom on top of the rubble, then covered the container with some bridal mesh and set the container in the tank in a low flow area.

After a week or so the mushrooms have always attached on their own.

You can also use mesh to hold them to a larger piece of live rock until they attach themselves. The rubberband won't be a problem.

My bad I wasn't intending to put it directly on the mushroom...I usually do the same (small container w/ rubble) but when they attach to the rubble and I place it in the area I want them to grow my clown fish just knock them over...So I wanted to attach directly to a large rock....i just wanted to make sure rubber bands would be fine in the tank.

    thanks
