This has been growing for about a month or so. I noticed within the past few days the bottom growth is now somewhat translucent. What is this? Should I get rid of this or what?

Id leave it. It may be some sort of plant or sponge or maybe even a duster of some sort.. Hard to tell from that picture. If its turning clear and falling apart I can't imagine it has much longer left to live, but I could be wrong.

looks kinda related to neomerris annulata sp. but not quite the same. my guess is a form of macroalgae, which i agre with good dr , will prob slowly die off. nothing to be alarmed about IMO
