Ok if this really was the title to a movie, and the diatoms were really attacking like some rabid zombies, it would most defiantely be a blood bath in my tank right now. Its really annoying honestly. Can anyone please tell me how I can get my diatoms under control pretty much all my rock is covered with the stuff. Im finding myself cleaning my glass every single day. Does anyone have any advice on how to get this mess under control? My water param are all really good. Calcium may b a little off but everything else is good. Can anyone drop a lil knowledge on me?

how long has the tank been up? This may be the normal bloom with the start of any new tank. Will go away in a week or so.

That's a new tank.... look at the clean substrate.

As already said, it will go. One time I had an exceptional loooong bloom. But it did eventually pass.

Looks like a new tank with a lot of inhabitants already. Get a cleanup crew to help out but it will pass with time (mostly when all of the silicates are used up by the diatoms).

There seems to be a lot of light on the left side of the tank.. Do you have a window with a lot of sunlight coming through there? I agree with the other comments, but that could be another issue

Well you guess are really quick with the response with such little info. I really appreciate the help. Well my tank has been up and running for about say 5 weeks now. And yes one of my white bulbs on my coralilife light go out thats why it looks so bright on one side. Honestly I can tell that the diatoms are way worse on the side with the light. So it is definately diatoms. I do have a few snails and some small inverts but yea i guess I need that cuc immediately. I was also having a major issue with the water clarity but i guess i had a major algae bloom. Seems like its starting to get a little better now. What does evryone suggest for a good cuc on a 55 gallon tank. Thanks for all the informative responses.

    I would check with reefcleaners.org

On their site you can fill out an inquiry and they will suggest a custom clean up crew for your tank. Plus they are a sponsor on here on 3reef.
