I hear ya there ! I have SEEN and caught some huge ones..I'm not exaggerating by saying 6 inches plus..I would and do believe if you were to contact one that big..as I have read..they WILL get ya...dang...I had just not heard nor seen it until this post..and back to that..I must agree that the BW would not go near a live and healthy fish...never seen that either...but drop to the sand bed...all bets are off..scavenger first rate..SNEATON...hope you fare well with your ordeal..it always sux when we go through these issues. : ( good luck my friend...and thanx for the insight (and gruesome photos) incognito !! ;D

the fish died:-[....i did some more research and i think it got hit by my anemone too...my theory is that one of my anemones stung it ,then while swimming in circles paralyzed it was bumping into rocks/sand and probably got hit by the bristleworm....there have been cases where fish are stung/killed by BWs but not so fast and it doesnt paralyze them....

Not that I knew of..he was so cool..and bright yellow, slept in the sand...but when I get to seeing too many bristle worms out and about...I just throw my trap in there a couple times and thin'em out...I kind of like to see'em in there..but not a bunch...they can start munching on coral(inside out) if they get to prolific.:p

Fish just up and die sometimes and we may never be privy as to why. It can be a super hard decision to put them down...... much harder when we don't even know why they are ill or if they'll recover. I've gone both ways with it, to be honest.

    Sorry about the loss.

yeah i feel horrible knowing it suffered before it died...i just feel if i didnt give it a chance to pull thru i would always wonder if it could have made it....its a double edge sword i guess:-/
