I just realized my tank has a lot of little scratches. Good thing I found them before everything was set up. I guess that means a trip to wal-mart tomorrow

The aquarium is mostly full. Now all I need is to make another trip to the pet store to get the rest of the water.

You should get an overflow and turn the scratched 10g into a sump. Go get two baffles cut at your local hardware store and silicone those bad boys in with some aquarium grade silicone also sold at most hardware stores. This would do wonders for your tank. The most expensive part would be the overflow. The return pump could be tiny.

I’m going to keep it simple this time. With my other tanks, they would be doing good with a simple hob filter, and regular water changes. Then I would try something new, like a fuge, or a new kind of filter, then the tank would go down hill rapidly. Besides, I do better with simple, it doesn’t require as much thinking :)

That works too. You have plenty of base rock which will soon become live and do a really good job at converting ammonia and nitrite.

I finally got the tank filled. I’ll upload some pics later.
I want to get everyone’s opinion on something. I want to use a live fish to cycle. I’ve used mollies before, but is there any other fish or invert that would survive the cycle? (other than damsels.)
