Nope, stuff works great. I knocked out some holes in mine to let more light pass through. I'll take a pic tonight when I get home from class. :)

sorry, I was away - yes, it is egg crate and like ten bucks for a sheet at home depot. very easy to cut (I used wire cutter pliers).

tank is noticeably darker. might cut out some bigger holes.

Just to add, I personally have had 2 fish jump right through eggcrate. I don't even deal with the stuff anymore.

My Yellow Watchman Goby did just that. Perfect jump right though the holes. I then had a YW potato chip. He was only in the tank for 4 days too!

We put a beach towel over the top of our aquarium at night for a while to let the new Yellow Watchman get used to things and make sure he didn't jump. Well, he was and is alot less shy than our pinkbar. He eats food right off of the tongs. So no need to cover it anymore.

Eggcrate works for alot of stuff. Otty has it in the openings to his overflow box to prevent any fish getting sucked in, like his ex-Nemo. Maybe you could cut out the center where it is just a rim of egg crate around the top? Because most fish that make it out of the tank jumped from the edge.

i got thinkin of possibly using the black screen for doors. lining the frame of my tank with velcro, and on the screen. should get a nice snug fit and easily modifiable and removable. cutting out areas for feeder, cords and lights. and black is quite unnoticable too. and unless its an incredibly underfed fish, cant jump through. lol
