attn CA shoppers - favorite out of state online vendor?

Any recs on online fish stores (for equipment only) that have good prices, little shipping costs, and, out of state (wink, wink, nod, nod).

you still have to pay a "use tax" even if you buy it out of CA. Most states have a "use tax" but not really inforced, CA enforces their's. They really wanna suck every last penny out of their residents.

Im sure Curt can go into better detail about this then I can... "Use Tax" is anything you buy out of state to be USED in state, has to be taxed at a rate comparable to your states local tax. If not, then you are suppose to pay your state the tax or if you were charged a lower tax rate, you are required to pay your state the difference.

 

I have been getting my items from Marine Depot and Vivid Aquarium. Marine Depot has will call window, so you can go pick it up w/o any shipping charges. You can do the same with Vivid aquarium. Prices are about the same.

Marine Depot is bigger, more ppl, but got some nice customer serivce, but don't have an actual store. Vivid Aquarium is smaller, own and operated by few knowledgable people. You can see what they got at the store and decide to buy or not. Very professional, personal, and good service as well.

I ended up buying from them instead of out of state because, ususally shipping will offset the tax. Then also, pay your own state some tax and support your local LFS
