Did you see the return lines on the top of the tank. He can move the current to any spot in the tank. All those adjustible returns on the top. Way cool.

The 1,100 Gallon reef tank equipment and system design:
By the way, this tank belongs to a friend of mine here in NY. He says it's our tank so I will not
argue with him on that note...lol anyway here are the specs.

2200 lbs of Live Figi & Tonga rock.

    A separate building 12' x 15' with 12' ceiling

houses all equipment-building has a 25KW backup diesel

    generator,heat, AC [backup to
    the backup chillers],slop sink,floor drain,ventilation

    system with exhaust fan/

automatic damper tied to humidity controller and

    temperature controller to bring

in fresh air and to use cold air to reduce chilling

    costs,and a chaseway to accomodate a 12" vent for

    removing heat from the lights

1100 gallon starfire glass tank with 3-2' bottom

oulets [2-3" outlets were suppose to be installed so we

    had 2- 2-1/2"

pvc bulkeads custom made so that flowrate would not be

    reduced-present flow

leading to 2 piping headers that branch off to

    8-locline fittings to direct

    systems1-120

    gallon refugium with reverse

    daylight2-200 GPD RO systems and

booster pumps2-calcium reactors [1 for each sump] with

controllers1-135 gallon vertical polyethylene tank for

    automatic kalwasser

dosing system tied to controller-replaces evaporated

    water6-1000 watt vented

lights-german bulbs3-150 watt blue attinic lightsall

    lighting is

controlled by individual timers and ballasts are

    remotely located in a vented

area1-cannister for carbon & 1 cannister for roaphos

    with separate pump

that recirculates water out and back into 1 of the

    sumps1-425 gallon

vertical polyethylene tank for water changes with

    circulating pumpall

    fittings-true union

We will be installing IP Web Cam's soon, I will post the link for all 3 reef members to view the tank in real time as soon as they are hooked up. This tank and all the goodies and construction, fish, rock etc. is near 80k and climbing!! poor little Moray does not have that kind of funds but it's sure nice to have friends that do.

Holy Smokes Moray....!!! That is taking a hobby to new limits!!! How many webcams will it take to cover the action?!? How many submarines are planned for the daily tours of the reef...!?

I hate to ask if their is a quarantine tank :)

    Great Work!

To be honest with you he tried to send me in the tank with a snorkel and mask to place some of the corals but i'm a little big and nervous for that job so we found a smaller human being to go in and place the corals. with his diving gear 4 real!
My friend Rob goes diving in beliz to the blue hole or something at least once a year so he is into the reef thing big time.
