After seeing so many threads about vodka dosing, I have created a group for people who do so. My intention here is to create a place where people can ask questions and know that they will get answers from knowledgable people. I have just seen too many post of people starting vodka dosing just because they heard it will make their water better, and I am hoping this group will stop that, and all of the other misconceptions. So if you vodka dose or are knowledgable on the subject, I urge you to join the group!!

Here is the link to the group

ive been dosing it for 2 months in my new tank(7 months old)..Before i started I did a ton of research about it and the best way to start and what to use..I use the cheapest 80 proof or 40% alcohol vodka(brand does not matter)..I took a little kids cough syrup dosing spoon thing and cut a whole in it stuck a piece of airline tube and hot glued around to seal everything and stuck a dripper on the end..For the first few weeks you dont have to really worry about dripping it bc your only dripping a little bit of vodka..But when you get to dosing to a good bit of vodka you need it..

ok so here was dosing its easy:
    week 1: dosed .5ml
    week 2: dosed 1.0ml
    week 3: dosed 1.5ml
    week 4: dosed 2.0ml
so on, so on, etc..each new week your just adding .5ml to the total..Im am at the 4.0ml of dosing this week..Honestly for the first month maybe I didnt notice anything but really my skimmer working a little more, but now I am starting to see def some brighter colors, they def pop more and are more crisp and defining..i know i just signed up but have been reefing a while and been a member at other forums, just found out about this cite the other day..when i was reading i saw alot of different ways to go about dosing..Some people go straight to dosing 1.0ml -1.5ml but anything i do in my tank i always do half of what is recommended and move on from there..I would def say to give vodka dosing a try, it maybe costs me 30$ a year for vodka to do it, i buy handle for like 20$..It helps alot out with phosphates and gives your corals great color, im sure it helps out with growth too, ive seen a lot of growth but I also have 12watts per gallon8)...Well hope this helps, this is how i have gone about dosing vodka...

Im trying to find my source I used, the guy had charts of his water params and pictures from him doing it for like 3 years and his tank was UNBELIEVABLE...

    found it:http://www.melevsreef.com/vodka_dosing.html

Vodka dosing works. I just think it belongs in my body more than my tank. The liver is evil, it must be punished.

Carbon dosing has been around longer than 3Reef has. Back in the day, we used Vinegar with our Kalkwasser and used sugar too. The newer methods of Carbon dosing are much safer.

With the above said, this is not something that you ever want to do unless you UNDERSTAND IT and that's why this group is a good thing.
