    Once you have one fail, you'll soon realize that price isn't that big a deal. Its not something you want to go cheap on in my opinion. I went with the tunze.

    The size of the pump doesn't matter. The water level change that the JBJ creates is about 1 inch and in a tank the size of the pico that is about 10% of the water. As for diy ATO..you can buy from ebay a float switch which costs 1$ a small pump (search for spray pump 4$) and a 12v power supply. If you wire all of them correctly you get a 10$ ATO
