You will need an aqua lifter pump, a storage tank, 2 float switches to be safe and the plumbing.

How do you hook up the float to the aqua lifter?

If you've never done one before I'd highly recommend the JBJ Auto Top Off. I've used mine for like five years now and I could easily do one through my Apex controller.

It's only a little more than you'd spend on individual floats, etc. and it has some very nice safety features. Not to mention that all you need to do is buy a pump, plug it in, plumb the pump and you're ready to go.

    Super easy.

I hook my Rodi unit directly into my top off unit. I think it's silly to have a container that you have to fill up so it can fill up the dt, isn't the point to not fill up anything?

Things required for my setup is

Autotopoff.com with electric solenoid natural state off (better to get one with a emergency lifter aswell)

And the check valve and autoshutoff valve.

The issue with this is that the first water that comes out of an RO/DI is not at zero TDS. When you plumb an RO/DI directly into an ATO you are adding some extra "stuff" into your tank.

I've also read that this can be harder on the filters and that they wont last as long. Since the system is turning on for a few seconds or a minute and then back off again over and over.

For my Ato I use gravity. I have a 10 gallon rubbermaid in the storage room next to the tank with a line running to the valve in the sump. I fill this up once a week.

I have a rubbermaid tub with a aqua lifter and float switch. I do have a float valve on my tub though but that's only so I don't overflow it.

I've tested it and have not seen over zero TDS.
