    Hi Guys,

I recently changed the reservoir that I store my RO/DI water in for auto top offs from a 3 gallon bucket to a 4 gallon. I also changed sumps and the new sump is lower than the old. When my bucket is full, the pump shuts off but a couple of cups of water continues to come out. I think that it has created some sort of siphon and doesn't stop until the water in the reservoir is low enough to break the siphon. I was wondering if there was something that I could add or do to stop this from happening. The tube going into the sump is above the water line, so there is no back flow. Thanks in advance!!!

    Regards,
    Ivy

I'm Guessing that pump is sitting in the Top Off bucket, so you are probably causing a siphon, so even with it sitting next to the sump it would siphon down until its level, I think your best bet would be to get a dosing pump, I think a TOM is only $16 and then move that above both the top off and sump and there wouldnt be a siphon. But thats just my Idea.

the outlet tube (hanging in your sump) needs to be higher than the water level in the reservoir.

Does the pump have to be above? I haven't used a dosing pump before. Does it basically work the same? Thanks!!!

The end of the tube would have to be higher. You can't siphon uphill.
