So Face do I need a driver for each color diode I want to control individually? Ie: blues, blue/magentas, blues/whites. Will this mean I will need 3 drivers? Someone said I can hook up all three to one driver, but I don't know if that'd enable me independent dimming from one light to the next.

Ecoxotic also isn't very clear on this.. "Their software representative is currently out of the country right now"

If you want to dim colors independently, you'll need 3 drivers. If you just want to dim all the lights you can do a single.

    What information do you need?
I can find dimmable driver to your setup just give me some info about it.
Recently upgraded my Ecoxotic 50W Csnnons to dimmable drivers (cause they coming with non dimmable drivers Mean Well PLP-60-24 - 24v 2.5A).
    I found out that for Cannons Ecoxotic installing 50W Edistar Led (24,5v 2.4A 50w) so I got Mean Well ELN-60-24D (2.4v 2.5A 60W).
This driver output voltage can be adjusted from 21.6v to 24.6v there is internal potentiometer SVR1, Edistar led need 24,5v so I don't have to explain what I did ;)
The difference between 60-24 and 60-48 is big...
60-24 output voltage is 12-24v (can be adjusted up to 26.4v) it has 2.5A and 60W
60-48 output voltage is 24-48v (can be adjusted to 52.8v) it has only 1.3A and 62.5W.
For example if you'll do your DYI project and want to run only 6x3w LEDs you can't use 60-48 cause you gonna burn LEDs (6x3v=18v) 60-48 min output voltage is 24v... so you have to install min 8x3w LEDs
    hope it helps...

Yes thank you, I'm debating on using the Typhoon controller by BoostLED or buying the ALC for the RKL but i'd have to buy the RKL as well.

To be honest I don't know Typhoon controller but I'll take a look on it...
The good thing about Mean Well drivers? They have decent price and good quality as for class 2.
If you gonna search Internet you'll find great reviews about apex vs rkl
I have some link but that's other forum so I don't want to paste it here... From my experience I'll definitely recommend apex it's really good toy and can help you out from light dimming to daily water change ;)
I just saw whole base setup brand new for $460 shipped which is not bad!

Thing that scares me about the Apex is the price and that I would have to keep buying the extra modules to get it to do everything in it's power. This really add's up but would be worth the buy if I could find a good deal with some modules included. Was interested in the RKL because a bud was going to sell it and the Typhoon for a good fair price. All I'd need to run the typhoon would be Meanwell 60-24P and the RKL would have some probes and power strips included

Well I understand what you mean I didn't buy my Apex at one shoot too... I have no idea how much you have to pay for RKL and Typhoon and what extra modules coming with that RKL I'm not saying don't do it don't get me wrong :)
Just saying I like the Apex cause basically it is coming with everything you need to run your tank and if you'll go with used you can get it for $350-$400 it has already LAN, ph/ORP bnc connectors or you can switch to two pH probes if you don't need to check your ORP. It has two 2 channel speed control ports so you can use one port for two led colors (blue/white) and second port for two tunze/vortech pumps you can do your own DIY I/O breakout box to hook up up to 6 float switches for ATO, automatic water change or simply connect some leak detector...
    And many, many more...
What else I like is access to apex from any place on the earth ;) and not only to check pH or temp, turn something on or off you can also reprogram your modules or outlets, free iPhone/droid apps that's real fun.
I'm not sure if you have heart about Alan D. Jones "The Unofficial New User Guide" PDF, is worth to take a look on it Alan did great job :)
Once again I'm not saying don't buy RKL I just did couple mistakes buying stuff for my tank and wasn't satisfied then later lost more money to sale that and buy the right thing.
But it's your decision and I hope you gonna enjoy it no matter RKL or Apex !

    Regards,
    mark

I've been using the typhon controller by boost for about 10 minutes now and love it!lol! Seriously, it's compact and super easy to use! I should prob read the directions to make sure I'm using it right!

Just picked up the RKL kit and will be upgrading the to ALC and MLC to control day and night light simulations. This won't be for a few more months however - need about another $300 to make it all happen including the dimmable drivers
