I hear you with the snails in the U-tube, happened to me earlier this year. Came home from work and found about five gallons of water on the floor and wall. Could not figure where it came from until I checked my U-tubes, both tubes had a snail inside. They did not stop the flow just slowed it down so that my return pump supplied more water than could be removed. Fixed it by putting eggcrate on top of the overflow box.

 

so can I take it that no one has used one
