Well last week a came home and found my center brace failed and was down in the tank.
My tank was made by a respected local tank maker... but not a company that makes tanks. I got it used from the guy that had it built but it was still new.. He never set it up.
Long story short this glass is too thin for the design they had. It was scary how much the 1/2" glass bowed out. I have a couple of braces on the middle hold it steady. Seems to serve the same purpose as the center brace. Waiting to hear back from Planet aquariums to see if they can fix it without a break down. Argg.. that will be a pain. I might was well just get a whole new tank if that's the case.
Anyway at least it seem stable for now. I was in the process of hooking up my calcium reactor. Got that hooked up. My first calcium reactor and so far so good. PH was about 8.2/8.3 Morn Eve. Now I'm getting about 8.12/8.18. Not too shabby I'm sure the dual chamber helps. I'm loving not having to mix a bunch of additives.
Went with the Reef Octopus CR5000D... Dual chamber with the Aquarium plants Carbon Doser regulator. Super easy to set up and tune. It only took me about 3 days to get it tuned thanks to the hanna checker. With the checker you can do more tests per day and notice a reliable drop or gain in alk.
Dosed some Prodibio Digest and Tim.. 3 days later the water is the clearest I've seen and a little Dino I had appears to be gone. I did change GFO and water change about the same time so all three seemed to make things perk up.

Ok, Got my tank repaired. The rimless is no longer a rimless though.

Planet Aquariums came in and did some euro/crossbracing.
I'm really happy with the way it turned out. No more rimless tanks for me :)
I love the look but I'll be more happy with peace of mind, keep my snails in and have a ledge for a lid to keep jumpers in.
I have most of my corals in a 20 gallon for a couple of days. The tank was drained about half way while they did the work. Fish are still in the main display. Hopefully every thing will be fine and I don't see why not. Got plenty of flow and airstone, heater.
