Always wanted a place to keep "dirty" let algae go and grow, and maybe even throw some leathers in the mix since my DT has too high flow for most my leathers! Was hoping I could get a few tips and tricks from my 3reef friends because without you guys I wouldn't have come near as far as I have today! SO thank you!

I am wanting to do a mix of both, DSB and fiji mud in my fuge. No idea on how to use the mud or if it's even possible to pull both off in such a small tank.

Unsure as which one the living fauna that claims the SW fish tank substrate as home would prefer, DSB or Fiji Mud

I think that covering the mud with sand would defeat its purpose... But, I have no exp in this department

Okay well call me crazy but I'm suppose to just line the bottom of my 10g with some mud? Does the depth of the mud make any difference? It just seems a little, icky!!!

What about the idea of a DSB and mud?
I could probably have both if lined one of those "Cricket Cages" with 4-5" of Fiji Mud with a piece of LR on top of the mud to weight down the cricket cage --- then outside I could line the tank with 4-5" of aragonite to achieve best of both worlds? Throw in some Nassi snails [6-8] and call it a day?

Brand new fuge with pump in "cricket cage". Will probably look into upgrading lights so I can keep my leathers down in the fuge(will use Biocube stock light fixture)

Thanks, but no one has really commented on any of the questions I have asked, would really love to hear some feedback on combining DSB with Fiji Mud, if I were to fill a cricket cage with 3-4" of mud, then surround that and line the rest of the tank with 4-5" of aragonite.

Chambers 1, 2, and 3. It's sort of hard to make out. You can see the heater in chamber 1, the skimmer in chamber 2, then the overflow in chamber 3.
