Came home tonight to find my purple chalice, about 8" across now, upside down on a lobo. The lobo won and the chalice has major war wounds. Quarter size, nickel, and dime size white bleach spots... Put it back after much cussing and fit throwing...to find my CBB nipping at the flesh, which soon after my sailfin decided to join in. Now both of these fish have been pissing me off lately, the tang nipping at my huge squamosa and the CBB at my acans. So I said enough and did a poorly planned fish removal. Caught the CBB with out taking anything out! The tang on the other hand, took most every thing out with out making plans. BAD idea. I was a nightmare. All in all lost a ourange digi about 3" tall, and broke some stags and a anacro. The bummer is my scape is way different now. Not sure if I like it. My little hippo is missing, hope she is just hiding. Fish are in a tote for the night and back to LFS tomorrow. At least my clam will recover now. DAMN reef safe fish my ass.

Before shot: (about 4 months ago, things are/were bigger now)

Well the are reef safe, not necessarily clam safe, or dead injured coral safe! Sorry you had to go through all that. I am sure your hippo is hiding, mine used to hide if I even thought about getting close to the tank. It is allot bigger and has been in my tank for 2.5 years now and is still a scaredy cat!

My "reefsafe" tang has been nipping at my clams too - what is up with that?! Your clam is amazing, by the way!

Sorry you lost some stuff and went through all that trouble. But at least you got the fish out.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. We all at one time or the other have jumped into oing something without a well thought plan and not been happy with the outcome but a learning experience can sometimes be the reward. Hope everything turns out alright and you figure out your aquascapeing.

Been there done that too. Ended up with several corals with dead tips that still have not been overgrown. Sorry to hear your troubles. I do believe when they say reef save they actually mean coral safe. Almost any fish will go after dead flesh. Hope the chalice heals.

terrible story - but the loses dont seem to outrageous so at least you can take some comfort from that

how about posting the after shot, when everything is settled down again

I bet it still looks good, despite the minor upset its been through

Give it some time and things will settle down again, start growing again, and the tank will look like the before shot before you know it.
