I was doing some night viewing on my tank, and noticed a white and black banded tendril coming out of my LR. It was sticking it's mouth on the rock and "scraping" it.

After a little research, I'm pretty sure that I have a baby snowflake eel. It would be very hard to get a pic at this point.

The portion sticking out of the LR is maybe 2" long.

I read that the chances of it surviving aren't good. Is this the case? If the survival odds are actually not as bad as I've read, how quickly do they grow?

I have a 110 gallon tank, but I'm not sure I want an eel in it..... but it may grow on me. LOL

    From the descriptions I've read on-line and pics I saw, I'm 95% sure that's what I have.

It feels kind of good to finally get an interesting hitchhiker. LOL

snowflakes are great eels, as Ive owned 3 in last 11 years.. unfortunately I wouldn't want one in a reef tank. once it gets bigger. you can trap it when feeding it. I always used a skewer with shrimp on it to lure the eels out of their holes. they do get aggressive as they get bigger and are poopers. :)

this thread is worthless without pics!!! :zzzz:

...seriously would be cool if you got an eel tho, maybe you could trade it in for some cool coral or something if you decide not to keep it...
