Found this little guy today. Looks like a baby starfish star but those 4 little nubs make me wonder. Last time I found something in my tank I was so excited. Until I IDd it as aiptasia anemone haha.
So..... Hoping this is a nice friendly starfish

I do have a chocolate chip starfish and live rock. But all have been in at least a couple months

    Thanks

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Asterina, most are harmless, be aware that the asterina can reproduce profusely.

    +1

I have one in my tank. I've only ever seen it once. Seems harmless

    asterina starfish?
Did a search. This might not be a baby after all.
Guess what I need to know is if I can keep it or should I get rid of it?

This is pretty neat. Sometimes you get a hitchhiker. Seems like
If you have a hitchhiker it's usually bad. Especially with corals. But I don't have corals.

So any idea where it came from? My live rock? Seems odd to just show up after months.
    Thanks guys.

FWIW, more of the small asterina sp. DON'T eat coral than those that do, and the ones that do typically feed on zoanthids/palythoas or smooth skin SPS like deepwater acropora. Like most other asterinae, yours probably just feeds on the dust algae on the glass or detritus (both are considered beneficial) not all hitchhikers are bad.
