image.jpg Just a quick update. I was able to wire the par 30 LEDs successfully. image.jpg I need a lot more rock, a new chiller and another radion.
I have two radions on the tank now but I definitely need another.
Thankfully they work with the reef link. Initially had concerns as they are the first gen lighs. But I am really glad they can communicate with each other.
The third radion will straighten out my DIY frame.
Some more pictures soon. I need a lot of rock. Making a trip to the north coast sometime next week.

    Thanks Matt.
Correction on the side of the tank its 8'x2.5'x2.5'so that's 375 gallons plus the sump.
    Can anyone recommend a skimmer?

Welcome back Siddique. Sorry I am late to the party.

My setup will be 1 year old on December 1st. I was thinking about going BB on the tank but I didn't prep the top of the stand for it or you would've seen the Styrofoam logo through the bottom and I don't think the fish would like that type of reading. I went with sand for more of a natural look but I went with about half of what I needed so I know I will be adding another 160-200 pounds slowly to my system. Now my frag tank is BB and I like syphoning what accumulate on the bottom since it's not that much.

As for water changes I do mine out of my sump as its easier, fish don't get sucked up in the hose, and less disturbance on the fish. If my hands go in the tank it's either for deep cleaning or adding corals.

As for a protein skimmer I like the reef octopus 5000 or something in that range for your system.

As for equipment I really dialed down and went with the KISS method. I evaporate about 2-3 gallons a day and worse when it's summer (almost 5 gallons a day). I use kalk in my ATO and a dosing pump for magnesium and my NoPox.

I hope that gave you a basic idea. Remember everyone's take k is different and make it pleasing to your own taste.

Good luck and keep up with the good progress that you are performing.

    Thanks bruh,
I'm really happy with the progress. It's turing out to be really expensive. At first I had no intentions of making this a coral tank and then I bought a new chiller. And probably gonna get one of those maxspect gyre generators or two. I need a lot more rock. A small storm just passed through so I will make a trip up to the coast and see if I can get some rocks that broke off the reef.
Looking for a used reef octopus on eBay. Hopefully I get one soon.
I imagine my evaporation will be ridiculous. I have a reef keeper controller so I'm probably gonna hook up a float switch to a 40 gal reservoir with Kalk.
I have a ca reactor but the solenoid is not functioning. But I definately prefer the reactor over the two part.

Thanks a lot for the positivity DSC reef, I'm really happy with how this tabk is coming along. I'm not rushing it at all this time around.

Very nice looking tank! I like your set up for the lights. If you could post another picture that shows it a little better that would be great! I am in the process of (slowly) building a large system and have not yet thought about how I am going to hang the lights. I do not want to do a canopy so you may have a good idea for me to steal! I have had lots of luck on Craigslist for equipment as long as I am willing to be patient and travel. Good luck!

Thanks, I will post some more pictures of the light set up when I get home. I'm putting another radion in the center and that would help to straighten the arch out. I have another idea on how to neaten out the hanging apparatus but I will work on that over the weekend.

Maybe you can get a basic idea of the fixture here. I will post closer pics when I get home. image.jpg image.jpg
The aluminum that I used for the rail is thinner than I wanted it. I used aluminum Channels on either side of the lights. Drilled holes where I wanted the lights and used the same eyelet screws that came with the radions to attach them.
For the hanging part, I placed a shelf with two brackets onto the wall so that I can place the bulky transforers up there away from water and sight.
If you look closely at the top left of the shelf you will see that I ran a two socket outlet so that I can plug them in up there so that I don't have a bunch of wired coming down.
