So I had this millie that I failed to acclimate to my leds properly so it started bleaching and I thought is a goner so I placed it in my sandbed and 3 weeks later so I notice it has a little more polyp extension and the tip of the frag is turning green barely which indicates insuffienct light right? Any ways I can admit my temperature fluctuates and it was starting to get cold here in georgia so I bought a new heater could this have affected my mille not having a stable temperature? I didnt by one b4 because all the other corals were doing great should I move the frag up?

I forgot to ask aswell could any SPS be maintained if I do weekly water changes or do I need a Skimmer?

I assume this is in the 10 gallon nano in your signature? blackreef13

    what LEDs are you using?

it is likely that failing to acclimatise to the lighting caused the bleaching and placing it further away from the lights helped to reverse the situation

Moving it up, after having 1st acclimatised a new SPS is my prefference
I normally have them on the sand bed for 5 days to a week, and then move them up the reef in stages (often used my magnetic frag rack for this purpose, in order I could raise it gradually over a period of days)

skimmer, as your bioload in terms of fish and fish foods, should be reasonably low in a 10 gallon set up, you may be fine without a skimmer combined with regular water changes

I would suggest running GAC granular activated carbon in your filtration system if you are not already doing do, and changing that every 3 weeks to 1 month has that will help water quality

    the sump surprised me blackreef
often the issue with skimmers for tanks of your size is that they do not make very efficient units for them -
with the sump, you could look at the Tunze nano model or even a bubble magus QQ which is a HOB skimmer but fits inside of the tank or in your case inside the sump - I have 4 of these and had them a good few months now and I have been happy with their production rates in even very low bio load situations

water changes could very well maintain your parameters - testing as your stock increases will verify if that is the case or not

fortunately with a tank/ sump of that size / volume your options on maintaining parameters are less complicated than they are for larger set ups
any of the good brand 2 part additive systems would certainly work to maintain your levels ( but reference to a test kit is important, do not just add without measuring)

if water changes start to become ineffective and you notice drops in your DKH, or Calcium
    then either
    Seachem reef fusion - 1 and 2
Kent Nano, part A and B
Brightwell reef code A and B
will all be reasonably cost effective ways of maintaining parameters in that size system
